Hair Loss
Hair loss or alopecia, the medical terms for this condition, can be described as any form of hair loss from thinning hair to sporadic patches, partial hair loss to full hair loss.
It is an autoimmune disease, which means the body is attacking itself and sees hair as a foreign object.
It is advisable to contact your GP to investigate the cause of your hair loss. It may be symptomatic of an underlying condition, a side effect of medication or a reaction to a stressful event.
Once you have investigated the cause of your hair loss you can begin the process of curing it if possible. However in some instances there is no cure and you may have to come to terms with living with the condition.
In this instance, it’s important to know that you are not alone and there is help out there. http://www.alopeciaireland.ie is an Irish support group and offers advice on all matters of hair loss.
